Together For Si in Manchester on Saturday 29th July was an opportunity for those who knew Si Hands to come together and reflect on quite an extraordinary life that Si enjoyed.   There were many parts to an emotional day which made us laugh, cry and be thoughtful.  For example, there was a reference to an excerpt from a book that Si particularly liked, by Carl Sagan called A Pale Blue Dot - the excerpt can be read by clicking the image below.

For those that weren’t´t able to get to Manchester but want to do something in memory of Si, there are a couple of things Alex (Si´s boyfriend) and Si´s family have come up with:

1). Take a selfie having an adventure and tag it with #TogerherForSi
(in reference to the fact Si embraced life and loved adventures, and of course he was the champion of selfies)

2). Do a selfless act.  As an example, give some food or drink to someone vulnerable or less fortunate, or donate to a charity, or check your phone book to find someone you haven´t spoken to for a while, someone who would be be surprised and delighted to hear from you.
(Si was famous for his random acts)

Like many, I am still struggling to come to terms with the fact Si has gone.  ¨Together For Si¨ will go a long way in the healing process.  To Alex (Si´s boyfriend), family and everyone who brought the event together, thank you.

To Si... Rest in Peace my friend
